After spending the morning in our basement due to an extreme spring storm (three tornadoes north of us and torrential rain), I thought it was time to reemphasize to drivers the importance of not driving through a flooded road. Locally, where I live in the Ozarks, when it downpours roads flood quickly.
Direct advice from National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) National Weather Service – Turn Around, Don’t Drown. They state it quite clearly – “more deaths occur due to flooding than from any other severe weather related hazard”.

Why am I putting this information in the Auto Upkeep Blog? Because according to the National Weather Service “more than half of all flood related deaths result from vehicles being swept downstream” – the key is that most of these could be prevented.
